The following guide will reference the image and diagram below for safety and operating procedures. Please ensure that you have read and are aware of each element of the drill press before using. Quick Start Check List:
  • Always wear safety goggles
  • NEVER WEAR WORKERS GLOVES
  • Keep all loose hair and clothing tucked away and out of reach
  • Checkout drill press key
  • If using drill press after hours always have a buddy

Safety Procedures

Potential Hazards and Injuries

  • Hair/clothing getting caught in moving machine parts.
  • Eye injuries.
  • Flying swarf and chips.
  • Sharp edges and burrs.
  • Hot metal and or fires dangers.

General Safety

In General, before making any modifications or begining any task using the drill press, while setting up and aligning items, be sure the press is OFF and the key is not engaged.

ALWAYS KEEP WORK AREA CLEAN, WELL LIT, AND CLUTTER FREE.

Keep drill bits and cutting tools sharp and clean.

Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry, as they might get drawn in by the tool.

Tie back long hair.

DO NOT wear gloves while operating this machine!

Follow all safety criteria named in document shown below.

Operating Procedures

General Operating Procedure:

Again, keep area clean when using drill press.

Please refer to the bellow manual instructions for general operation:

Drill Speeds Chart

Always refer to the chart below before working on the drill press and ensure proper speed and bit size is used per material.

Assembly/Adjustments

Please ensure drill press is off, key is not engaged, and unplugged before making any modifications.

You may then proceed to make adjustments following the guide shown in the instruction manual linked above.

Cleaning/Maintenance

Please refer to the following document for proper cleaning, lubrication, and maintenance of the drill press.

Do not use or clean drill press in any other forms other than refered to and outlined below.

*Hazards:*

Fire:

Although it is unlikely that the drill press itslef is to catch fire, the drill bits move at very fast speeds, get hot, and can cause a lot of friction if not properly attended to. Always follow all safety procedures and operate with a fire extinguisher nearby.

Please only use specified materials outlined in safety with drill press. Other materials may not be suitable for the speeds and abilities of this machine and can cause fires and broken bits.

Do not operate drill press with any flamable materials present (power tools create sparks which may ignite dust or fumes).

Electrical:

The system is powered using a standard 60 Hz, 120 V wall connection which should remain plugged in and should not be unplugged during operation at any time.

Turn off all systems and remove key before unplugging.

Only use the provided power cable, and do not attatch to any extension cables or daisy chains.

Hazard Controls:

Wear eye protection at all times when using drill press.

Do not wear loose clothing and do not operate within reach of any flamable materials/liquids/gasses.

Emergency Procedures

In case of an emergency, call x5000.
